Cheryl is a practicing Counselling and Clinical Psychological Associate. As an associate at Canada Career Counselling, Cheryl’s approach to career counselling is to fully understand clients’ difficulties within the workforce and to help them gain clarity in which occupations they may consider in pursuing in light of their strengths, interests, personality, and values. Furthermore, in cases where clients are experiencing significant anxiety and mood difficulties, she aims to provide psychotherapy in a warm, empathic, and safe environment in which clients feel comfortable to explore in detail the struggles they experience within the workforce as well as uncover their strengths to achieve their goals.
In the practice of clinical psychology, Cheryl offers cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to adults struggling with depression, all types of anxiety difficulties, insomnia, chronic pain, obsessions and compulsions, psychological trauma, adjustment difficulties as well as assertiveness difficulties. In addition to offering CBT, Cheryl adds elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) in helping clients achieve their goals.
Cheryl completed her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL, USA. She received post-graduate training at various hospitals in the United States and Canada (i.e., Duke University Medical Centre, CAMH (Mood Disorders Clinic), Mount Sinai Hospital, and UBC Hospital (Anxiety Disorders Clinic). Cheryl is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Canadian Psychological Association.
