Working from our offices in Halifax, Laura provides career counselling support for clients in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick; and across Canada.
As a high-impact Career Counsellor and Registered Counselling Therapist, Laura has been lucky to work with people from all walks of life and of all ages (16-65+). She loves being a generalist and feels passionate about empowering people to achieve their personal and professional potential. Laura supports clients with the practical, emotional and spiritual parts of decision-making through self-reflection, goal-setting and assessments drawing from a strength-based, client-centered, and mindfulness approach – she strives to support, educate and guide individuals through the process of identifying careers that are meaningful, rewarding and most importantly – a good fit. She is a generalist and has experience with clients working in numerous industries including healthcare, finance, real estate and business to education, non-profit, the arts, science and IT.
Whether it’s work stress or figuring out your career choice, Laura can offer her experience of dealing with these challenges while helping you become present and focus on what matters to you and, ultimately, be guided by your values. She will help you identify your strengths, values, personal qualities, beliefs and interests in order to create a foundation for decision-making and planning.
Originally from Montreal, she holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from McGill University, a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Psychology, as well as, a Diploma in Graphic Design from Concordia University. With her years of experience working in the post-secondary environment as a Career Counsellor, she ran career exploration workshops for university alum and graduate students. She has also been involved in training medical students in developing their micro-counselling skills when dealing with diverse patient populations. She is passionate about diversity & inclusion and is often described by her friends as a bold & creative problem-solver, kind, eclectic and insightful.
Laura uses evidence-based approaches such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution-Focused and Nature-Informed Therapy. Laura identifies as being of mixed race and is bilingual in French and English.
She is also a LGBTQA2S+ community ally.
